.KEY MESSAGES...
Updated at 642 PM EST Fri Nov 28 2025

 - Dry conditions will persist through Saturday, with hazardous
fire weather conditions across parts of north and central
Georgia in the afternoons and early evenings.

 - Scattered to widespread rain is expected Sunday through
Tuesday, with the possibility (30-40% chance) of a light wintry
mix in the mountains Saturday night into early Sunday morning.

.SHORT TERM...
(This afternoon through Saturday)
Issued at 127 PM EST Fri Nov 28 2025

Dry, cool conditions will persist through tomorrow (Saturday). A
Fire Danger Statement is in effect this afternoon and early
evening across parts of central and eastern Georgia due to low
relative humidity and increasingly dry fuels. Tomorrow will bring
increased mid-/upper-level cloud cover and a transition to
easterly/southeasterly surface winds, but not expecting enough
airmass modification to completely rule out the need for another
Fire Danger Statement across parts of the area.

A mid-/upper-level shortwave trough will traverse the
Ohio/Tennessee River Valley on Saturday night, while at the
surface, high pressure across the Eastern Seaboard shifts eastward
in response. Model guidance depicts a cold air damming wedge
remaining in place across at least the eastern half or so of the
County Warning Area (CWA) overnight, which will maintain a near-
surface layer of cold air (lower 30s to mid-30s) across parts of
north and eastern Georgia. Moisture ahead of the aforementioned
trough (and its attendant low pressure system and fronts) will
support scattered showers overnight. For the northeast Georgia
mountains -- where overnight temperatures are forecast to be at
freezing or a couple degrees below -- precip may begin as freezing
rain. At this time, expecting that any accumulations would be
light and only minimally impactful (if at all), and mainly
relegated to elevations of 2500 feet or higher.

.LONG TERM...
(Sunday morning through next Thursday)
Issued at 127 PM EST Fri Nov 28 2025

The long term outlook, starting on Sunday, can be summed up as
modestly wet. Several modest shortwaves traversing the southeast
over the next week will bring several rounds of rain showers
Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday into Friday. Mid and upper level
southwest flow between each system will continue to pump moisture
into the area, holding PWATs over 1". This may not sound all that
impressive, and it`s not in the grand scheme of things, however
this will be more than adequate to maintain wet conditions for
much of the period. Model guidance remains consistent in QPF
through weeks end with 1-2 inches likely across the region Monday
through Wednesday. This seems reasonable given the PWATs, decent
forcing, and cool temperatures. Wet conditions will be greatly
appreciated in dealing with continued drought across central
Georgia.

Speaking of temperatures, Highs will remain moderated during
times of precip and cloud cover. North Georgia can expect highs
mostly in the 40s and 50s and central Georgia could see highs
reaching into the upper 60s to even low 70s. Lows will remain
cool, dropping to the 30s and 40s for most, though post-frontal
conditions on Tuesday night into Wednesday morning may see temps
fall into the upper 20s and low 30s for the northern 2/3rds of
the CWA.

.AVIATION...
(00Z TAFS)
Issued at 642 PM EST Fri Nov 28 2025

Winds will remain elevated overnight and into tomorrow at 5kts or
greater. Direction will start off as NW and become NE after 08Z.
Increasing VFR cloud coverage will dominate the TAFs with FEW250
becoming BKN250 as the day goes on, but no change in flight category
is expected.
